CCN: Corel Introduces Students to the Powerful World of Linux!

“Corel Corporation (NASDAQ: CORL, TSE: COR) today announced
it has donated more than $100,000 USD* worth of Corel’s Linux
software to selected students in the Dallas area at an exciting
event held in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, April 29.”

“At Corel, we appreciate the importance of exposing young people
to leading-edge technology like Linux – not only to enhance their
education but to properly equip them for the highly competitive
workforce. That’s why we’re proud to make this investment,” said
Dr. Michael Cowpland, president and chief executive officer of
Corel Corporation. “Linux has its roots in the academic community
and, as such, is ideally suited to serve the needs of students
andeducators.”

“Corel donated 2,000 copies of Corel LINUX OS and WordPerfect
Office 2000 for Linux to the CAST (Connect A Student To Technology)
program, created by the Dallas Independent School District. This is
the first time Corel has made such a significant Linux contribution
to the academic community. Approximately 250 district families
received donated computers andtraining at Saturday’s event.”
