“Corel…announced that the first beta version of its
WordPerfect(r) Office2000 for Linux(r) has been issued to beta
testing sites.”

“WordPerfect 8 has been the most popular Linux application with
over 900,000 downloads to date on CNET alone,” said Dr. Michael
Cowpland, president and chief executive officer for Corel
Corporation. “Now the availability of our full office suite, which
includes compatibility for Windows users, will accelerate mass
deployment of Corel LINUX for mainstream use.”

WordPerfect Office 2000 for Linux is a fully functional
office suite, which provides users with the same excellent
import/export capabilities as offered in the rest of the
WordPerfect line.
The suite is compatible with the Windows(r)
version of WordPerfect Office 2000, and will install on all major
Linux distributions, including Corel(r) LINUX(r) OS.”
