“In an earlier article, John Corwin and I gave an introduction
to the architecture and use of SashXB, an open source, Linux
application environment that gives JavaScript programmers access to
native functionality. The Web applications created using SashXB
were referred to as ‘weblications,’ a term I’ll continue to use
here. In this article, I’ll cover more advanced SashXB topics,
using examples from a weblication called ‘BluePages Lite,’ an
application that accesses data from an LDAP-based IBM employee
directory. Our client allows users to navigate and search the
directory for contact information such as e-mail addresses, phone
numbers, and office locations. This weblication weighs in at a
hefty 3,500 lines of JavaScript code. Anything significantly larger
