“Shares in Corel Corp. scored gains on Wednesday, spurred by
pricing and product news about its Linux-version of WordPerfect
Office 2000 — software that won’t be available until
spring.”

“Shares in the Ottawa-based firm peaked at C$31.25 on the
Toronto Stock Exchange before slipping to C$30.00, a gain of C$1.35
or nearly 5 percent. On Nasdaq, the issue reached an intra-day high
of 21-11/16, but then retreated to 20-13/16, a gain of 14/16.”

“The software package, now in beta testing, is expected to ship
in March and hit store shelves in April, a Corel spokeswoman
said.

“The WordPerfect news was released while Corel attends
LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in New York this week and as Chief
Executive Michael Cowpland appears as a keynote speaker at Linux
Expo in Paris, France.”
