“Distros that were certified by Kylix (hoped i’ll launch the
program smooth) didn’t actually make it. Let’s see – SuSE 7.0 –
failed, Mandrake – failed, RedHat 7.0 – failed. I tried Debian 2.2,
but this time, i’v failed… There were some issues with Debian
installer and I gave up the instalation. After fixing some problem
with Kylix installer, I’v tried once again and this time it worked
for RedHat 7.0.”

“I’ve noticed two changes (that Kylix made since Delphi) that I
liked – internal object structure is saving in text files (*.xfm)
instead of binary files (*.dfm) . The other thing is that help and
network component sources (that are third parties) are integrated
within Kylix and looks like native. It a big plus – hope they will
keep up the good work!…”

“The Kylix kind of enviroments are meant to be a nice and easy
for beginers and intermediate programmers. For real gurus it’s
easier to maintain self written code than use RAD. Kylix is great
software if you want to quickly check some ideas, not for real big
apps development though. For gurus it takes too much time to avoid
the Kylix limits.”
