“VistaSource, Inc., a new wholly-owned subsidiary of Applix,
Inc. (NASDAQ:APLX) announced today that the Good Samaritan
Society (GSS) will deploy their Applixware Office for Linux v5.0
nationwide to 2,500 users across 240 sites.
This is the
largest known corporate deployment of Linux on the desktop, and the
first major agreement since VistaSource spun off from Applix Inc.
on April 24, 2000.”

“The agreement also marks the first success to come out of the
VistaSource “Try & Buy” program, a program which allows
customers of IBM’s NetVista thin client N2200 and N2800 solutions
to test Applixware Office for 60 days before purchase. The Try
& Buy program has been in place since early February,
2000.”

“We look forward to implementing the Applixware applications,
which will provide a low-cost solution to our word processing and
spreadsheet needs,” said Rusty Williams, Chief Technology Officer
for GSS. “It will greatly improve the overall job performance of
thousands of our employees.”
