“When web browsers were first made available you used
to have to open a new browser window for every page you wanted to
view. At the time it wasn’t really an issue, but then the web got
more popular and you wanted multple pages open at the same time all
the time, so browsers introduced tabs and everyone was happy again.

“Now we’re getting to the point where it’s not uncommon to have
20+ tabs open at any one time. How painful it is to switch between
so many tabs depends on the size of your display and how many you
have. Clearly a new way of dealing with lots of pages is required.
Mozilla has already shown off one such solution called Tab
Candy:

“Now Mozilla is experimenting with another page organization
feature it is calling Home Dash. While Tab Candy allows a user to
organize their own tabs, Home Dash looks to improve search and
content discovery in a similar way. It’s part of the Prospector
project which focuses on exploring search in the context of the
browser”
