“Resource Information Management Systems, Inc. (RIMS) and
MERANT…announced that RIMS has successfully ported to the Linux
platform with the new MERANT Micro Focus Object COBOL Developer
Suite(TM)(OCDS) for Linux. With MERANT, RIMS rapidly deployed to
this new platform for e-business and distributed solutions,
leveraging their significant investment in existing systems to
speed time to implementation and reduce project costs.”

“RIMS provides healthcare benefits administration systems and
transaction processing for clients including PPOs, managed care
organizations, insurance companies, self-administered corporations
and third party administrators. Founded in 1981, RIMS software
processes health benefits for an estimated 30 million insured
individuals, covered by more than 60,000 different health plans,
representing 12 percent of the United States population.”

“We’ve had a great working relationship with MERANT for many
years — we have always been a MERANT Micro Focus COBOL shop.
Once we decided to port to the Linux platform, the decision to
choose who could help us get there was simple — MERANT
,”
commented Mark Lesswing, RIMS chief technology officer.”
