“Joseph Cheek faced a difficult task – to make Linux
user-friendly on the desktop – even more so than Windows. Joseph
and his development team have risen to the challenge and the first
full release of Redmond Linux personal edition is imminent.
Microsoft may not yet be aware but a mini revolution is taking
place in its own back yard. Joseph kindly took time out from his
busy schedule to tell us more about his user friendly
distribution.”

“Q:So tell me a bit more about the ease of use
aspect of Redmond Linux.”

“A: Well one of the things that we are really
pushing is to make Redmond Linux very, very easy to use. Some of
the other Linux distributions have tried but I think that we are
going to really push the envelope. I don’t think that anyone, with
the possible exception of Corel, has made it (Linux) really easy.
So if you compare us to Mandrake, Caldera or anybody else, we are
going to be significantly easier, even if you include the Ximian
(formerly Gnome) and the Eazel stuff, we will still be easier than
anything else that’s gone to market right now. There is really not
going to be a single big distribution that’s going to be easier
than Redmond Linux. Even if you look at Easy Linux, Best Linux, Win
Linux or some of the other smaller distributions that are trying to
be ‘easy’ to the end user – they don’t compare to what we are going
to have when we ship. So there’s nothing that’s going to be quite
the same as our distribution.”
