“It’s more of a toolkit [than a full Linux distribution],” said
Quinlan. “Linux is pretty important to us at Transmeta.”
“Over the past year, Transmeta engineers have rewritten the file
system of Mobile Linux in a smaller footprint, while adding many
file system features, including directory sorting and an error
checker.”
“The Linux software also was enhanced to be upgraded easier, to
supply a modularized install, and to support MP3 players for Linux,
Quinlan said, noting that several of the features and performance
improvements were incorporated in the recently released Linux 2.4
kernel.”
