John Taschek, meet Richard Stallman; two sides of the same
coin, attacking the open source movement from opposite sides.

Despite the polarity of their otherwise unrelated assaults, their
arguments unwittingly combine to prove what a genius Linus Torvalds
really is.”

“First we have Taschek, of the PC Week Labs that gave us all
that fun when they tried to compare Linux security to Windows NT,
with controversial results (to say the least). Earlier this week
Taschek offered us the perspective that while Linux itself may be
successful, open source is a road to nowhere….”

“Stallman (once again) bemoans the co-option of what he calls
the free software movement by the nasty open source hoards and
their corporate kin. Stallman believes that the open source
movement has watered down his ideals to the point of doing them
harm. Who cares whether or not free software makes economical sense
to developers? It’s an ethical imperative, don’t you know?”
