ZDNet: Veritas Linux Announcements: Business as Usual

“Future Linux strategy was discussed including Veritas’ intent
to support Oracle9i Real Application Clusters on Linux through
Veritas Database Edition Advanced Cluster for Oracle9i Real
Application Clusters in 2003. Veritas is also investigating putting
storage management products on Linux on the IBM mainframe. Finally,
Veritas believes that its storage virtualization software will
become a key embedded operating system platform for the next
generation of storage network devices and solutions, helped along
by the Veritas Powered program.

“The Hurwitz take: The Linux market is up and coming and offers
future revenue for Veritas with limited short-term impact. Many
large IT shops are doing Linux experimentation, but few have made
significant investments in it. Hurwitz Group believes this will
change as the Linux platform matures, becomes more scalable, and
server hardware consolidation and OS expenses come under review
over the next three years…”
