“Avant! Corporation (Nasdaq: AVNT) today announced that they
will provide a version of Hercules-II for 64-bit Linux OS optimized
for Intel’s forthcoming IA-64 architecture beginning with the
Itanium processor. Hercules-II is the physical verification
component of Avant!’s Milkyway Singlepass design flow.”

“We are working closely with Avant! to enable Hercules II for
IA-64 platforms running Linux, starting with the Itanium
processor,” said Diane Wortsmann, acting director of Workstation
Industry Marketing at Intel. “The combination of the power,
scalability and capacity of Itanium processor-based workstations
running Hercules II on the 64-bit Linux operating system, will
provide designers an enhanced experience, especially for large
projects.”

“Hercules-II optimized for the Itanium processor expands our
product reach to address the demands of the most complex SoC
designs,” said Gerald C. Hsu, chairman, president and CEO of Avant!
Corporation. “Hercules II customers have successfully taped out the
largest capacity VDSM designs done to date. Avant! is looking
forward to providing the power of Hercules-II to supplying the
growing PC-based market segment in IC physical verification.”
