Korea Herald: Korean firms to build low-cost Linux-based supercomputer

"Korean researchers and technology firms have joined the global race to build low-cost, high-power supercomputing system...."

"We intend to give local researchers and businesses low-cost access to the highly sophisticated computing power, which otherwise would cost them billions of won," Cho Yong-hwa, president of the government-funded institute."

"The machine will cluster 64 Linux-based servers, powered by 667MHz Alpha processors. The computer network will be able to process at a speed of 85 gigaflops, or 85 billion calculations per second, he said."
