"In anticipation of the growing popularity of e-business applications on IBM's S/390 platform for Linux, BMC Software has decided to extend its application service management products to the platform."

"It's simply not enough to view Linux for S/390 as an isolated operating system (OS)," said Calvin Guidry, vice president of S/390 service management. "The ultimate success of Linux for S/390 will be driven by its ability to interact with OS/390 applications--that's where the data is."

"BMC's road map for future Linux plans is being discussed this week at its Assurance 2000 conference in Las Vegas. BMC reiterated its support for a maturing Linux market and the resulting changes in customer needs in a recent company statement."
