"Hewlett-Packard next week will unveil HP-UX 11i, the next edition of its operating system for PA-RISC and future Intel IA-64 hardware systems."

"Key enhancements in the new, Internet-focused HP-UX 11i environment include support for up to 256 CPUs; hot swappable I/O and disks; new ServiceControl Manager software for application management; built-in intrusion detection; Linux APIs for portability of open-source applications; and new Java development tools, according to Ram Appalaraju, director of marketing for HP's E-Services Operating Environment."

"HP also has co-developed a WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) mobile server with Nokia that will run in its operating environment. "As far as I know, we're the only Unix vendor to have done this," Appalaraju asserts."
