"Mylex, an IBM company and leading supplier of RAID controllers, today announced that Linux administrators can now monitor and manage their RAID systems using Mylex's Global Array Manager client/server RAID management tools. This Linux-compatible server software is available via free download from www.mylex.com."
"Global Array Manager (GAM) monitors the performance of the RAID controller, drives and the overall RAID system, while detecting areas of potential I/O bottlenecks. It can be accessed from any location using standard TCP/IP connections. Compatible with network management suites such as Intel LANDesk and HP OpenView, GAM is designed to support all Mylex eXtremeRAID and AcceleRAID PCI controllers with power, ease and flexibility. GAM has successfully completed compatibility testing with Red Hat, Caldera, TurboLinux and S.u.S.E. distributions of Linux."
"Mylex's decision to offer Global Array Manager to the Linux community should benefit Linux network administrators and integrators greatly," said Bill Claybrook, Research Director, Linux and OpenSource Software for the Aberdeen Group. "With administrators able to incorporate Mylex RAID support in their Linux offerings, there will be increased interest at the enterprise level in evaluating Linux as a flexible, reliable alternative OS."
