"At the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo Thursday, VA Linux president and CEO Larry Augustin unveiled a series of initiatives with Oracle Corp. and demonstrated Oracle's E-Business Suite optimized for and running on VA Linux's distribution."

"Projecting that the Linux market will grow to $75 billion by 2004, Augustin said the availability of database, e-commerce, and enterprise productivity applications such as Oracle's E-Business Suite, Oracle 8i, Brave New World's Symphero e-commerce platform, and VA Linux's own SourceForge is closing the gap in the Linux applications portfolio."

"The convergence of advancements in the Linux kernel and availability of line-of-business apps is making IT departments--and all businesses--more open to a Windows alternative, Augustin said. "The operating system environment out there is changing," he said, adding that 56 percent of IT managers in Global 2000 companies are using open-source software today."
