"NEC Corporation (NEC) is set to open its HPC (High Performance Computing) Engineering Center for Linux-based PC cluster systems this Friday. The center is designed around promotion of enhancements to Linux clustering software and the porting and tuning of parallel applications.

The Center will be equipped with a 128-CPU (64 nodes) cluster system based on the "Express 5800 series" server. The cluster system will be used as a platform for benchmarking and functional verification of parallel applications on standard Linux-based clustering software such as Beowulf and SCore. The center will have a staff of 10 and will be open to other organizations, such as ISV's and systems integration vendors both on site and by remote access."
