"NEC Corporation (NEC) is set to open its HPC (High
Performance Computing) Engineering Center for Linux-based PC
cluster systems this Friday. The center is designed around
promotion of enhancements to Linux clustering software and the
porting and tuning of parallel applications.
The Center will be equipped with a 128-CPU (64 nodes) cluster
system based on the "Express 5800 series" server. The cluster
system will be used as a platform for benchmarking and functional
verification of parallel applications on standard Linux-based
clustering software such as Beowulf and SCore. The center will have
a staff of 10 and will be open to other organizations, such as
