Microsoft is one of the official supporters of Grid development.

Microsoft's inclusion in an open-source project that primarily makes use of the Linux platform might seem a bit odd. But Robert Wahbe, general manager of Web services at Microsoft, said in a statement that the company sees the Grid, like it does many open-source projects, as an "ecosystem" where Microsoft technology can also flourish."
