"With Linux gaining momentum among enterprises, Intel has decided to release more software for supporting the OS. The software will be released together with its processors from now on.

"Intel's Linux strategy is spearheaded by its Itanium range of processors, which are better used in conjunction with the Linux OS than with Microsoft's proprietary software.

"According to Narendra Bhandari, Intel's Asia-Pacific regional manager for strategic relations, the price-performance equation for Itanium on Linux is more attractive than on other platforms, especially in the High Performance Computing (HPC) segment..."
