Using VisualVM to Improve Liferay Performance

"My testing shows that using hardware costing about $1.000 to run Liferay 5, I am able to serve between 300 to 2200 requests per second. This test scenario mimics hosting a web site consisting of several thousand pages, with at least 1.000 users simultaneously browsing the site. Note that this does not take the bandwidth to the Internet into consideration, since I have tested on a Gigabit LAN."
