From the home hobbyist to corporate video departments, the requirements are straightforward: straightforward video editing that allowed importing of raw video from multiple sources, easy clip and audio manipulation, and easy export to multiple formats. Free applications like Apple's iMovie and Microsoft's Video Editor cover the basics, but fail to offer the power of Adobe Premiere (which comes with a steep learning curve and hefty price tag).
Meanwhile, a Linux-compatible option has been opensource.com contributor Seth Kenlon's editor of choice for the past few years: Python-based Openshot.
