MapR Technologies, a provider of distribution of Apache Hadoop, has taken several steps to enhance its open distribution for the Big Data technology. The projects follows MapR's decision to join the Open Data Center Alliance, which works on enterprise-class interoperability, security and manageability for Big Data frameworks.
MapR does not require agents or specialized connectors to get data into and out of a Hadoop cluster. This open architecture opens up Hadoop to hundreds of third-party commercial and open technologies, according to MapR's director of product management Tomer Shiran "MapR opens up Hadoop by allowing users to leverage a broad array of standard commands, tools and applications," he said.
