"In recent months, Linux developers Red Hat Software Inc. and Caldera Systems Inc. have unveiled business-oriented upgrades, major alliances with application developers such as Oracle Corp., Computer Associates International Inc. and IBM Corp., as well as expanded services and certification programs for the channel."

"Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Oracle, for example, claims to have more than 800 customers of its Linux-based database. "There's a big opportunity for VARs with Linux," said Jeremy Burton, vice president of server marketing at Oracle. "Very large corporations need someone to take ownership of it and add value," he said."
