BW: ObjecTime Introduces Support for Linux-Based Embedded Systems

Sep 09, 1999, 15:38 (0 Talkback[s])

"ObjecTime Limited, the leading provider of engineering automation tools for distributed embedded software systems, today announced that applications built with Rational Rose(R) RealTime can now be run on the Linux(TM) operating system."

"With the introduction of Linux support, ObjecTime expands customer choice, adding this important new operating system to its market leading set of supported targets."

"We are very excited to hear about this new Linux port from ObjecTime," said Fred Hartgraves, Software Engineering Manager at ADC Telecommunications, a leading global supplier of voice, video and data systems. "We have developed several embedded products using software tools from ObjecTime, and I can easily envisage a scenario where we'll need to move existing functionality to a Linux board. This port will be perfect as it means we won't have to change our complex application at all, just recompile it."

"It was just a matter of time before Linux made it into the embedded systems world. Unix came out of the telecommunications industry -- and it's only natural that developers would want to build applications that are targeted to Linux" said Paul Zorfass principal embedded analyst at IDC/FTI. "Their tools will aid in further deploying robust Linux solutions."
