"Yesterday, Oracle announced that their premier Internet database, Oracle 8i, was now officially certified to work on Red Hat Linux. They also announced a strategic parnership with Red Hat Software to bring enterprise level tools and support to the Linux community. 32BitsOnline's Senior Linux Editor, Mark Bashaw, took the opportunity to talk with three Oracle representatives on the announcements."

"32BitsOnline: Are there plans to certify Oracle 8i for other Linux distributions or possibly a "base" Linux distribution such as that promoted by the Linux Standards Base project?"

"Oracle: There are plans to continue to certify with Red Hat. Other Linux distributions including Caldera, Suse, and TurboLinux (formerly Pacific HiTech) will also be certified to run Oracle 8i. There are no plans to certify Oracle 8i on a base distribution of Linux."
