"Oracle Corp., the number one choice for e-business, today announced that with the immediate availability of Oracle Application Server 4.0.8., it is also launching a sales promotion aimed at former NetDynamics, Netscape and Forte application server customers. This promotion is designed to give businesses a low-risk vehicle to upgrade their application servers in order to leverage the new Business Components for Java development and deployment framework now available with Oracle Application Server (see related release). With this promotion, Oracle will offer up to a 25 percent discount toward the purchase of Oracle Application Server 4.0.8 to customers who currently hold application server license contracts from either NetDynamics, Netscape or Forte. This promotion is inspired by recent demand for the Oracle Application Server on Oracle Technology Network (OTN), the world's fastest growing Internet Developer community. In recent months Oracle Application Server has consistently been one of the most popular products on OTN, amassing some 64,000 downloads in the past six months alone. Of those, 42,000 have been for the Linux operating system. This promotion will be available through Oracle's online store at http://oraclestore.oracle.com or from any Oracle sales representative."

"Unlike the competition, Oracle has been developing its application server under one code base for over five years. This consistency helps reduce customer deployment frustrations and risk," said Jeremy Burton, vice president Oracle Internet Platform marketing. "This promotion is designed to help NetDynamics, Netscape and Forte customers leave those frustrations behind and defray some of the costs in the process."
