"The Linux Counter has received a new machine from Compaq to run its registration service for the Linux community.

The new server, an Alphaserver 800, should be about 10 times the speed of the previous platform (a Pentium 90), meaning that it shouldn't get overworked even when the counter gets headlines.

The access speed is still only 256 Kbits/sec, however, so don't expect miracles."
