"A year has passed since the release of the original FUD 101
paper. In that year much has happened -- big enterprise service
companies have moved into the Linux space in a, well, big, manner,
Microsoft has stepped up their FUD attacks against Linux
(especially those involving "benchmarketing"),
and Linux companies have merged, IPO'ed, and grown beyond our
wildest dreams a year ago. In honor of a year in the life of Linux
(and a year of Microsoft FUD), the FUD101 paper has now been
updated with new analysis, updated links, and updated information
to correspond better with the new "facts on the ground".
It is easy to get angry about the latest FUD attacks on
Linux, which often are much more subtle (and more dangerous!) than
previous. Hopefully, though, this paper will help some people
aim a more analytical eye at the FUD coming from places that start
with an "R" in the state of Washington, and will help people
respond in constructive ways rather than the [Flames] that
sometimes afflicts Linux advocacy.
