IT-Analysis: Intel making PC's! Whatever next?

"Admittedly its not your conventional PC that Intel is doing - in that it isn't an enormous, ugly, impractical, box- it's planning to focus on the delivery of the so-called web appliance and it sounds like a very good idea. The plan is for Intel to produce a Linux based box - presumably so that it will benefit from lots and lots of free publicity because of the Linux buzz - that will feature a telephone and upgradeable PC...."

"It would appear that Intel will be charging between $300 and $700 for the device with a monthly 'service charge' - which is presumably for the Internet access - of around $30. And the Internet access sounds like it will be pretty good. According to some reports the box will come DSL ready although support will naturally be available for standard phone lines."
