osOpinion: Transmeta chips to appear sooner than expected

I can say that I knew the chips would be X86 compatible, and that's all I knew. That was until I started reading about these super-cool and energy efficient chips...."

"I actually thought of giving up hope on a silent desktop computer, but then came Transmeta with their Crusoe processors. The first thing I realized was that with such a super-cool processor, we would no longer need CPU fans. I think Transmeta realized though that the design and concept of desktop computers would forever leave consumers with a lot of noise coming out of their power supply fans. For that reason, I have decided that my next computer will be a Transmeta based portable. I had to ask myself several questions to make my decision. The first thing was, "Do I really NEED to have a desktop computer?..."
