UpsideToday: First question: Why Linux?
Klaus Schleicher: We went to Linux because all these new
processors for the mobile market, specifically the StrongArm II
processor, are designed for low power consumption. Linux seems to
be the operating system optimally designed for these
processors. Linux also has already been proven to work well
with StrongArm. That was our primary choice for the processor. It's
new. It gets a lot of processing power. And it consumes less power
than the typical Pentium processors. Linux simply came with it.
