"Future versions of the popular Corel LINUX OS will also include the Linux font server from Bitstream."

"Bitstream Inc. and Corel Corporation announced today that the Linux font server from Bitstream has been incorporated into the highly-anticipated WordPerfect Office 2000, a comprehensive office productivity suite for the Linux OS. In addition, the Linux font server from Bitstream will be included in future versions of Corel LINUX OS, which has been downloaded by over 200,000 Linux users to date."

"'We view the WordPerfect Office 2000 program as a new standard for the Linux platform,' said Anna Chagnon, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Bitstream. 'It is the first product that gives Linux a desktop application suite comparable to Windows. Our Linux font server fulfills Corel's critical need for a high-quality font subsystem with cross-platform capabilities. We are very pleased to have worked with Corel in bringing the Linux OS to a wider commercial audience.'"

"The Linux font server from Bitstream can render TrueType fonts, in addition to PostScript Type 1, Speedo, and other industry standard font formats. The new Bitstream technology will help the Linux platform overcome one of its most significant barriers to acceptance in the desktop market."
