"What is the free software movement trying to achieve?"
"All published software should be free software. Everyone
should have the freedom to study it, to change it, and to
redistribute it. The outcome depends on many people: it's up
to the public to choose freedom or not."
"Has the movement become too much of a success, in that people
are using free software for the wrong reasons?"
"That's not too much of a success, that's a much more specific
problem: people forgetting the goal of the movement, the goal of
freedom, and being sidetracked into merely practical
considerations. That could lead to total failure because nobody
will hold on to freedom except by valuing it."
