"Metrowerks today announced it is a founding member of the Embedded Linux Consortium (ELC). The ELC, formed at the recent Embedded Systems Conference in Chicago, is a coalition of embedded software companies and engineers with the shared mission of promoting and implementing the Linux operating system in embedded applications."

"As a founding member, Metrowerks will join IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, 3Com, Red Hat and others to help define the charter of the group and collaborate with other members on efforts to drive and accelerate the acceptance of embedded Linux. Metrowerks also plans to deliver embedded Linux development solutions based on its CodeWarrior Integrated Development Environment (IDE)."

"Metrowerks is committed to accelerating the adoption of Linux as an embedded operating system for the fast-emerging world of Internet appliances, mobile wireless devices, set-top boxes and other embedded system applications," said Greg Stoner, vice president of marketing, Metrowerks. "As a charter member of the ELC, Metrowerks will take a leadership role in this effort and will provide the development solutions that will serve to further entrench Linux in the embedded systems space."
