"Novell is backing Linux for Internet messaging. Novell has announced that its Internet Messaging System 2.5, which targets service providers seeking to provide hosted e-mail accounts to partners, vendors and customers, can span across the Net to the Linux, Solaris and NetWare platforms."

"The system is slated for delivery as a hosted offering. It has been designed to help Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Application Service Providers (ASPs) attract customers, said Novell spokesperson Shawn Dickerson."

"The system is based on Novell's NDS eDirector, which provides "large-scale, highly reliable and ultra-secure directory services," Dickerson said."
