"IPHighway, Inc. a leading provider of carrier-class, multi-vendor, policy-based networking technology, today announced an initiative to make the COPS (Common Open Policy Service) technology freely available to networking companies and equipment providers. Through an open source agreement, IPHighway would offer complete access to the COPS-PR protocol, including licensing and documentation, through its Web site, www.iphighway.com. Similarly, Intel Corporation will provide open source access to the COPS-RSVP software via their site, www.intel.com."

"COPS offers a reliable, responsive protocol for policy-based network management systems, enabling the dynamic, proactive management of network devices. By integrating COPS, networking companies and equipment providers can "policy-enable" their products, offering complete support for industry standard policy management systems such as IPHighway's OPS (Open Policy System)."

"By integrating the standards-based COPS protocol, networking companies can extend their products to access intuitive, policy-enabled networking solutions -- enabling their customers to better support next-generation, business-critical applications," explained Shai Herzog, Chief Technology Officer at IPHighway, Inc. "The unprecedented open source agreement offered by IPHighway will make it extremely easy for companies to simply download the software and put it to use, with absolutely no strings attached."
