"Red Hat Inc., which makes Linux operating systems, has agreed to pay about $30 million for WireSpeed Communications Corp., which makes communications software for embedded systems, the companies announced Wednesday."

"Under terms of the agreement, Durham-based Red Hat will issue 1.5 million shares of Red Hat common stock in exchange for all the outstanding securities of Huntsville, Ala.-based WireSpeed."
