LinuxPower: Interview with Sven Neumann on the GIMP

Jun 19, 2000, 16:24 (1 Talkback[s])

"Sven Neumann is one of the core developers on the GIMP, a freely distributed program for image manipulation. He recently got back from the first ever GIMP Developers Conference and gives us some useful information both on the upcoming GIMP 1.2 release as well as the next generation of the GIMP."

"Jeremy: The current development release of the Gimp is 1.1.23 and it has seemed pretty stable to me thus far. When do you anticipate a release of Gimp 1.2?

[Sven:] Heh, everyone is asking that. Well, unfortunately we managed to introduce new bugs into the latest releases while fixing other severe bugs. Version 1.1.23 is the first in the series of preview releases which apparently does not have any major show-stoppers anymore. There's however still an ever-growing number of open bug reports. We'll have to dig our way through these and try to close them all. I will not set a release date here, but I can state that we are close."
