Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers
"PowerApp.web 100 Appliance Server Provides Red Hat
Linux-based Proxy Servers for Dealers."
"Dell today announced that Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. will
equip every Toyota and Lexus auto dealer in the United States with
a Dell PowerApp.webä 100 appliance server to provide
customized digital content to each dealer. The Web appliance
servers, which will run the Red Hatä Linux 6.2 operating
system and Apache Web server, will serve as the center of each
dealer's content network, delivering multimedia information to
customers and employees."
"The PowerApp.web appliance server is a low-cost,
high-performance Web server optimized to deliver Internet and
intranet Web content. The appliance servers will download a variety
of Toyota- and Lexus-brand product information from Toyota's
headquarters, including videos, sound files, graphics, and other
electronic resources. The information will then be stored and
available to customers and sales representatives via client
browsers. These resources are to be loaded automatically each night
and can be remotely updated by Toyota at any time. The PowerApp.web
server also serves as a proxy server for Internet information."
