Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers

"Linuxfund.org announced the launch of its development funds beta site today. This move will enable LinuxFund.org to begin granting money and equipment to promising Open Source software development projects."

"Over the past year, LinuxFund.org has been running a credit card program to raise funds for new Open Source development. As card usage increases, so will the size of LinuxFund.org's total grant allocations, which start July 2000 at $5,000 per month. Funding decisions will be made in coalition with Linux International's development board, whose all-star line up includes John "maddog" Hall, Alan Cox, and Ted T'So."

"The time is ripe for us to fulfill our destiny and serve the needs of our community," said Benjamin Cox, Chief Executive Penguin of LinuxFund.org. "The money is here -- now we need projects to fund." A ceiling of $1,000 per grant will be imposed, but the organization is also donating tape drives, SCSI hard drives, and other equipment to suitable seekers."
