"Gateway has announced that it plans to use Transmeta's Crusoe smart processor to power the first products of the Internet Appliances (IAs) line that the company is developing with AOL."
"Slated to hit the market in time for the holidays, the IAs will sport Transmeta's Mobile Linux Operating System (OS). Gateway officials said the Crusoe processor is suited for IAs and handheld devices because it offers extended battery life, a small size, and lower operating temperatures than traditional processors."
"Transmeta officials said that it beats getting a lump of coal in the old holiday stocking. "AOL and Gateway have the best overall strategy in the emerging Internet Appliance space and we are thrilled to have a strategic relationship with them to develop Crusoe and Mobile Linux-based products," said David Ditzel, Transmeta's CEO."
