"The French Magazine Electronique awarded its annual Electron d'Or (Gold Electron) award to an embedded Linux operating system (OS), branding it the most significant development in tools and embedded software over the last year."

"The Electron d'Or is awarded based on a poll of embedded tool and software users. This year's winner is BlueCat Linux, an OS developed by San Jose, Calif.-based LynuxWorks."

"Of their honoree, Electronique said, ",i>Combining the reliability of UNIX and the Open Source low distribution cost, the BlueCat Linux OS is a version of Linux specially proportioned for use in embedded systems. It is based on the Red Hat 6.1 distribution, containing the Linux 2.2 kernel. This environment allows the cross-development of embedded applications with a simple PC running Red Hat."
