"Lineo, Inc., a leading developer of embedded Linux system software, today announced they are teaming with National Semiconductor Corp (NYSE: NSM) to co-develop Linux-based software development kits for the Information Appliance (IA) market. Lineo and National Semiconductor, the leading enabler of total systems and silicon solutions for the information appliance market will develop reference platforms using Embedix , Lineo's embedded Linux software. These reference platforms will target the set-top box markets and WebPAD, a personal access device."

Helping these mutual customers accelerate their production schedules is one of the ways both National and Lineo are enabling this growing market," said Michael Polacek, vice president of National's Information Appliance division. "National's Geode integrated processor solutions, combined with Lineo's Embedix software platform is an excellent solution for low cost, easy to use devices allowing anytime, anywhere Internet access."
