"True to its Beehive State roots, embedded Linux developer Lineo continues to set a busy pace in preparation for its upcoming IPO."

"On Tuesday the Linden, Utah-based company announced a new "collaboration" with Hitachi Semiconductor Inc., a U.S.-based subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturing giant Hitachi (HIT). According to both companies, Hitachi will install Embedix, Lineo's version of the Linux kernel, on Hitachi SuperH RISC processors."

"The companies say the collaboration will help lower the cost and speed the development of wireless devices in both the handheld and automobile markets, two areas Hitachi has been targeting for the last year."

"We think Linux is reducing time to market and offering more options for our OEM customers," says Prad Sang, the Hitachi Semiconductor marketing manager who initiated the partnership between the two companies."
