"Simonds said MandrakeSoft wasn't the only company trying to trade free software for favorable press. He recounted an episode in which a Tucows staffer received a free copy of an unnamed Linux product. When the reviewer wrote a piece pointing out both the good and the bad, Simonds says he promptly received an email from the company, asking, essentially, "What gives?"

"[The software maker] said we should have given his software a better review, rather than pointing out all the errors," Simonds said."
