Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers

"ErgoTech Systems, Inc., a leading developer of Java-based component software for manufacturing, is pleased to announce the release of its Java OPC (OLE for Process Control) Gateway. This OPC Gateway leads to an exceptional thin client solution for factory automation that will allow uncompromising access to any OPC Server regardless of the client platform. This is especially relevant to the growing interest in using the Linux platform for manufacturing environments. ErgoTech's solution leverages the advantages of the superior Java security model for Internet connections and does not require any special client software other than a standard Web browser."

"The Java OPC Gateway is designed to be used with ErgoTech's Virtual Instrumentation Beans (VIB) to generate and deploy remote or local user interfaces which will update from Windows based OPC Servers and other networked factory automation devices and systems."

"ErgoTech's OPC Gateway is licensed per server. There is no license requirement for clients, the number of which is unlimited. The server component is designed for a Microsoft Windows system hosting one or more OPC Servers. The client requirement is a standard Java enabled Web browser available on many platforms, including Windows, Linux, and other UNIX based systems. The client side user interface may be developed on any platform with graphical Java support."
