Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers

"Recently Microsoft Internet Explorer has come under fire from web standards groups and from numerous HTML designers and other "Web" people. What they are doing is nothing new in the world of web browsers...."

"Netscape released Navigator/Communicator version 4.0 in 1998 to much fanfare but with little regard for the standards. CSS 1.0 has been out since 1996 and HTML 4.0 since 1997, yet Netscape 4.0 does not fully support either standard. Instead they offered an editor, enhanced email and usenet utilities and other things a web browser doesn't need. And more proprietary stuff like JavaScript."

"Netscape 4.0 is a pain for those designing web sites. By not supporting many of the standards valid HTML and CSS doesn't show up or if it does it doesn't work properly. this hinders the ability of designers to balance form and function."
