"The Open Group, a vendor and technology-neutral consortium dedicated to enterprise integration, announced today availability of a new edition of the Go Solo source book covering the current state of the art of the UNIX system. The new edition is entitled The UNIX System Today"

"This book provides complete information on what's new in the Single UNIX Specification, Version 2 and features of the UNIX 98 Product Standards, with comprehensive reference material on every aspect", said Andrew Josey, Director of Server Platforms at The Open Group, who edited the book. "What's more, it's authoritative, with papers written by members of the working groups that developed the specification, and the complete 3000 page Single UNIX Specification, Version 2 is included on the CD-ROM, together with other related specifications."

"This new edition has been expanded and revised to include new sections on UNIX system networking (Distributed file systems, WebNFS, NFS, Samba), the X Window System , UNIX system clustering, the Linux operating system and Open Source in addition to the material covering the Single UNIX Specification and the UNIX 98 product standards."
